Enjoy fine in-shore and game fishing and diving from the beautiful Karikari Peninsula at Doubtless Bay in Northland, New Zealand with your experienced skipper, John Dunn. You can also stay at our comfortable Bed and Breakfast on this beautiful peninsula.

Join our safe, experienced crew on board the 7.5 metre Kevlar Cat - Lady Di. Powered by two 100hp four-stroke Yamaha outboards giving a top speed of 33 knots, there's plenty of room to fish and a large canopy to keep out of the rain or sun. She is in safe ship management for eight people with all necessary safety equipment on board.

Departing from Rangiputa or Whatuwhiwhi (Perehipe or Tokerau Beach), you can fish and dive Doubtless Bay and Rangaunu Harbour on either side of the Karikari Peninsula and catch snapper, tarakihi, kingfish, kahawai, yellowfin, marlin and many other species and dive for the abundant scallops and crayfish. You may also enjoy sightseeing with dolphin, orca, the local bird population and other sea life with excellent opportunities for photographers.

Skipper John Dunn has many years fishing and diving experience and can put you right on the good fishing and diving spots. He has a New Zealand Masters Certificate of Competency and a New Zealand Diveboat Masters Certificate. John is also a Coastguard boat and education tutor and examiner - contact John for day skipper, boat master, radar, GPS, VHF radio MROC (Marine Resticted Operator Certificate), inboard and outboard maintenance, Commercial Local Launch Operator.

Lady Di can accommodate a maximum of eight people fishing in-shore or a maximum of six people when game fishing or diving.

We normally offer four-hour fishing trips departing either from Rangiputa for Rangaunu Harbour or from Whatuwhiwhi (Perehipe Beach) for Doubtless Bay. Wildlife spotting is also included - dolphin are frequently sighted and occasionally orca.

Expert tuition is provided to families and first-time fishers. Fishing rods, reels, tackle and bait is provided. We offer air fills and can arrange accommodation if required.

Please remember to bring something to eat and drink, suitable clothing and a hat and sun block, etc.

In-shore fishing and diving

How to get here

From Auckland

By car:
It is an approximately four and half hour drive from central Auckland heading north on State Highway (SH) 1 following the signs to Whangarei. Stay on SH1 for approximately three hours from Auckland where you turn right to SH10 at Pakaraka Junction (after Moerewa) and head towards Kerikeri and Doubtless Bay. Six kilometers past Taipa turn right to the Karikari Peninsula (Inland Road).

By air:
Air New Zealand Link flies from Auckland to Kaitaia once or twice daily and to Kerikeri four or five times daily. The flight takes approximately 40 minutes and hire cars are available at both airports.
